Companies in the business-to-business sector may see an uptick in their credit card processing activity in the coming months, as a survey from Bank of Canada reported that businesses are optimistic and are having fewer difficulties accessing credit. The quarterly Business Outlook Survey, released Friday, reported that 69 percent of Canadian businesses expect their future sales to increase at a greater rate than in the past 12 months.
The balance of opinion on this question - which measures the difference between the number of businesses expecting sales to pick up compared to the number expecting sales to slow - is at its highest since 2001.
The survey also found that, for the first time since 2007, more Canadian businesses have reported easing credit conditions than have reported tightened access to credit.
The overall survey painted a positive picture of Canada's economic future, as well - "responses to the autumn survey suggest that the Canadian economy is recovering, as all indicators of business activity have increased since the summer survey," said Bank of Canada.
As the economy continues to improve and access to credit thaws, merchants in business-to-business sectors should make sure that their payment processing equipment is capable of handing the increase in sales, especially from businesses that pay by credit card.
