Consumers can benefit from credit card rewards program

By Kristen Lawrence

27/05/2011 - With many people taking vacations in the coming months, many hotels and airline companies are offering deals to consumers that could allow them to save money in the process.

A popular hotel brand, InterContinental, announced that if a visitor stays at two of the brand's hotels on consecutive weekends, then they will be able to get a $75 MasterCard gift card that they can use anywhere the credit card is accepted.

According to many travel experts, the deal can end up saving consumers a significant portion of their normal leisure expenses.

"The best thing about this deal is that it is available at lower-cost chains, such as Holiday Inn or Candlewood, so you won't have to spend a lot on your hotel to get the bonus," wrote Tom Parson, CEO of Bestfares.com. Other participating InterContinental Hotel Group properties include InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge and Hotel Indigo.

The hospitality industry has made other payment processing news as of late. Sector leaders from the American Hotel and Lodging Association, Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals and Hotel Technology Next Generation recently held a conference where they discussed how to better secure customers' credit card data.
