Epicor unveils new retail point-of-sale software

By Joseph Trigliari

12/10/2010 - Epicor, a retail point-of-sale system provider, has released Retail Store 6.3, which boasts new features to increase productivity and security while enhancing the consumer experience.

Retail Store 6.3 allows customers to make cross-country returns across different currencies by supporting chip and pin credit card and debit card technologies.

In addition, Retail Store 6.3 provides payment processing security with the incorporation of the Epicure Secure Data Manager, which facilitates PCI compliance, payment handling and authorization.

The system also strives to make work easier for store employees with predictive tendering - a technology that requires fewer key strokes for cash transactions - and a store messaging function, which allows the central offices to send messages to personnel at individual stores or groups of stores, thanks to the Microsoft Windows Communication Foundation which streamlines communication between different deployment levels and services.

Microsoft technologies provide the basis for other point-of-sale systems including Demand Analytix, a part of Retalix's supply chain software. DAX is designed for food and consumer goods retailers and promotes inventory optimization and order process organization.
