Gilbarco marks encrypting PIN pad achievement

By Kristen Lawrence

13/10/2010 - Gilbarco Veeder-Root recently shipped its 100,000th FlexPay Encrypting PIN Pad. The FlexPay EPP uses the company's Triple Data Encryption Standard to offer secure payment processing of debit cards at fueling stations.

“As fueling dispensers continue to evolve we are excited about the options that we offer today and will continue to release [more] going forward, not just with payment security, but also with digital media, alternative fuels, metering technologies, and more,” said Richard Browne, vice-president of marketing for North America.

Gilbarco has introduced several new developments including the point-of-sale terminal FlexPay UPT CRIND, a diesel exhaust fluid and ethanol dispenser, a partnership with Outcast Media to provide entertainment at the pump, the Gasboy CFN III site controller and point-of-sale system PCI SSC approval and its Wisdom Intelligent Device Management, which helps manage energy consumption.

Dresser Wayne, another fuel technology company, recently received the first PCI PIN Transaction Security version 3.0 certification for its Ovation, Vista and Tokheim EPP keypad devices that use the company's new secure magnetic-stripe card reader to immediately encrypt consumer data and support end-to-end data encryption.
