Hyatt, Visa and Chase form alliance, release Visa-branded rewards card

By Lauren Lindberg

24/02/2010 - The push to incentivize consumers to ramp up their credit card processing activity continued this week, with Visa, Chase and Hyatt Hotels announcing the release of a Visa-branded credit card that earns points through Hyatt's loyalty program.

The card is part of a "multi-year, strategic alliance" between Chase, Hyatt and Visa, announced Tuesday.

The card, which has yet to be named, allows cardholders to earn points through the Hyatt Gold Passport program, the hotel chain's global loyalty program.

"We chose to align with Chase and Visa because they share our commitment to quality and customer service," said John Wallis, global head of marketing and brand strategy for Hyatt. "This alliance will enhance our Hyatt Gold Passport program and strengthen our relationship with our members by creating more opportunities to earn points to redeem for travel."

Hyatt operates five hotels in Canada, in Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. While all Canadian businesses whose merchant services include Visa acceptance may benefit from this credit card release, merchants in these five cities specifically may see a noticeable uptick in their credit card processing activity.ADNFCR-2514-ID-19635821-ADNFCR
