Medical offices can benefit from payment card processing

By Pivotal Payments

18/08/2009 - Accepting credit cards is an increasingly important aspect of business for merchants, restaurants and retailers alike, as a growing number of consumers are switching from cash to plastic.

Yet the benefits of enabling payment card processing do not stop with stores - almost all businesses, including medical practices, can significantly increase their profit margins and customer base by accepting debit and credit cards.

Medical offices that accept credit cards, for example, can save money - and paper - by not having to bill patients after their visits, as they can process the transaction at the time of the appointment. This can also save money by reducing the billing processing time, and therefore the payroll expenses.

"This is the way the world economy operates," Dr Donn R. Chatham, owner of Chatham Facial Plastic Surgery, told American Medical News. "I pay for nearly everything with a credit card. It is convenient for me, and convenient for the patients."

Physicians and office managers who are implementing payment processing are encouraged to ensure that their merchant account providers are not charging unnecessary fees, and they take measures to continually remain PCI compliant.ADNFCR-2514-ID-19319001-ADNFCR
