A county in Minnesota recently announced that it would be accepting credit card payments at its license centers.Woodbury Patch reports that residents in Washington County would be able to pay for services at the licensing centers in Stillwater, Forest Lake and Woodbury with Discover or MasterCard credit or debit cards. The director of the county's department of property records and taxpayer services, Kevin Corbid, said that officials had been unable to allow the payment processing method previously because it would have cost them too much.
"MasterCard and Discover now allow for a convenience fee to be paid by the customer, and the State of Minnesota recently entered into a contract with U.S. Bank to process these payments on behalf of all deputy registrars and license center operations within the state," said Corbid in a release.
Communities all over the country have been allowing residents to pay with credit cards. The city of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, announced that it would be allowing people to use credit cards as long as they paid the processing fees.
