Payment processing industry to meet in California for security conference

By Lauren Lindberg

19/04/2011 - Professionals in the financial services and security industry will gather later this month to discuss protect consumer data in the payment processing sector.

The American Global Risk Management Conference, hosted by MasterCard, will take place in San Diego, California, from April 25 to 29, bringing people from different parts of the world together to look at new strategies and lay out ways to overcome industry-wide challenges. According to MasterCard, last year's conference attracted representatives from more than 145 financial companies and other organizations from 28 different countries. Chief payment system integrity officer Wendy Murdock said that by working together better practices could be formulated.

"At MasterCard, we continue to advocate the importance of our industry partners working together to leverage the best strategies, technologies and practices to enhance ongoing payment card data security," said Murdock. "Our annual risk management conferences are just a few of the many ways in which we help to educate payment card data security professionals."

This year's keynote speaker is Mark Sullivan, director of the United States Secret Service, who will discuss investigations his agency has engaged in involving fraud cases. He will also discuss the Secret Service's future plans for investigating other card-related crime.
