A retirement community in Lincoln, California, has recently discovered a new way to boost revenue.Sun City Lincoln Hills has started selling physical and virtual gift cards online using GiftCardGreatness. com, an ecommerce service created by Smart Transaction Systems. The site enables businesses to sell gift cards from their websites withough installing online payment processing software.
The more than 11,000 residents at Sun City Lincoln Hills can use the gift cards to pay for goods and services at facilities within the community, including classes, restaurants, events, trips and spa treatments.
"Residents love the gift cards because they are convenient," said Jeannine Balcombe, senior director of lifestyle and communications at Sun City. "The gift cards are an accurate, simple way to track resident spending within the community - for both our accounting staff, and the residents."
Before implementing GiftCardGreatness.com's services, residents were only able to purchase and reload their gift cards at select locations. It also makes it easier for family members who live out-of-state to purchase gift cards for residents. Using GCG's online portal, individuals can send a physical gift card or have a virtual gift card emailed to the recipient.
