Following the recent announcement that it has extended its official sponsorship of the Olympic Games, Visa unveiled this week its marketing campaign for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games. The campaign will feature television, digital, and out-of-home advertising, and will also use market merchant activation programs, usage promotions, and enhanced social media applications.
This campaign, dubbed Go World, "celebrates athleticism and human triumph through unique athlete stories," the company said. "It features a wintry blue tone throughout all creative executions and will be customized to maximize local relevance in key markets."
The first promotion launched on Sunday, November 1, allowing each U.S. Visa cardholder who uses his or her Visa card between November 1 and December 31 to be entered into a chance to win a trip for four to the Vancouver Olympic Games. This trip will feature airfare, hotel, event tickets and VIP access opportunities.
With Visa ramping up these usage promotions both before and during the Vancouver games, merchants are advised to make sure they offer Visa credit card processing capabilities, as Visa payment processing is likely to see a surge.
