Wireless credit card transactions let stores run free

By Joseph Trigliari

03/01/2011 - Businesses are no longer tied to their brick-and-mortar stores, thanks to emerging wireless payment processing technologies.

No longer will business owners be restricted by a credit card terminal, as the technology is continuing to grow in popularity among firms of all sizes.

According to Entrepreneur magazine, merchants who travel for business, yet want to offer credit and debit card payment options to their customers, are a perfect fit for this technology. However, any business owner looking for convenience, flexibility, privacy and cost-savings will benefit.

"These terminals offer mobile merchants portability and transaction flexibility, allowing them to use a number of devices to process swiped credit card transactions or ecommerce sales through internet-based payment gateways," writes Entrepreneur contributor John Burtzloff.

Because they use a wireless device to process payments, business owners can also benefit from lower, discounted rates compared to keyed entries, according to Burtzloff.

Recent advancements in the technology also allow for portable and wireless printing, reports e-Wisdom. Other devices allow credit card processing to be connected to a computer through a USB input jack to allow for fully functioning credit card reading.
