Continuing its Olympic marketing push for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games, payment processing giant Visa Canada announced this week the launch of new Olympic Games-themed Visa prepaid cards. The cards, which are issued by Peoples Trust and inComm, are available in denominations of $50 and $100 and can be purchased at more than 3,500 locations across Canada.
"Visa is continuously looking for new opportunities to provide our customers with innovative payment solutions," said Brian Triplett, head of global prepaid products for Visa. "Canadians can shop securely and conveniently using Peoples Trust and InComm Visa Prepaid cards at retailers - in person, online or travelling outside of Canada."
Visa already released three new Olympic-themed prepaid cards, issued by the Citizens Bank of Canada, in mid-November. Prepaid cards are an increasingly popular payment processing method because of the large number of unbanked consumers worldwide, and because many have increased their focused on staying out of debt and having tight control over their finances thanks to the recession.
As the official sponsor of the Olympic Games since 1986, Visa has focused on Olympic themes in most of its recent marketing efforts.
