The Pivotal Payments Gateway (PPG) Server is built for enhanced reliability and scalability of the IT environment. These capabilities include:

  • Certified for Windows Server 2003: The PPG Server has passed stringent compliance testing requirements on reliability, security and maintainability set by Microsoft in their Application Specification for Windows Server 2003.
  • High Scalability: You can increase the PPG Server clusters computing power by simply adding more processors or nodes. This allows you to start small and scale up or out on demand. The PPG Server supports Windows Network Load Balancing or an external load balancer. The PPG Server supports an unlimited number of nodes, thus eliminating the need for expensive hardware to handle heavy traffic loads.
  • High Availability: Multiple PPG Server nodes can be clustered together to achieve very high availability and eliminate single point-of-failure. Transaction processing can be distributed over more than one PPG Server node to achieve a degree of parallelism and failure recovery, providing more availability. The PPG Server is load balanced and traffics redirects failover to the next available node. Windows NLB, Microsoft Cluster Service, external hardware load balancers are also all supported.
  • Automatic error reporting: The PPG Server can automatically alert the system administrator when a critical system error occurs.
  • Automatic memory management: The PPG Server is built using .NET and has eliminated memory leak and buffer overrun issues.
  • Automatically eliminate deadlocked processes: The PPG Server supports automatic ASP.NET process recycling to eliminate the possibility of memory being consumed by deadlocked processes.
  • Supports database replication: The PPG Server database supports real time and offline replication to achieve high availability at the data tier.
