Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode

Online Payer Authentication

Visa and MasterCard now offer methods to actually validate that a cardholder is authorized to use the card and qualify the transaction for a guaranteed payment that protects against cardholder unauthorized chargebacks.

Both Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode run on your website and interact with both the customer and their card issuer. As part of the checkout process, the cardholder is asked to enter a private code that has been registered with their bank. Their bank then validates that code and provides you with a means of achieving a fully guaranteed transaction.

Benefits to Merchants

Guaranteed Payment: Merchants that implement Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode are guaranteed payment* for all transactions authenticated. This means fraud losses as a result of "I didn't do it" transactions can now be eliminated.

Significant Drop in Chargebacks: Merchants that implement secure payment authentication are likely to benefit from a significant drop in the number of chargebacks they receive on a monthly basis. This results in lower chargeback fees, less merchandise lost, and a reduction in administrative costs.

Lower Interchange Rate: Online merchants may qualify for reduced Visa and MasterCard rates once they are deemed fully compliant.

Accept International Transactions: All payment authentication programs are applicable worldwide making it safe for merchants to accept transactions outside the U.S.
